Dr. Hedric Hanson graduated from the George Washington University Medical School in 1967 and completed his residency obstetrics and gynecologic at the University of Vermont 1972. During is military service, he was stationed at the Elmendorf USAF Hospital between 1972- 1974. He entered private practice in Anchorage in 1974. He is an active member of the medical staff at Providence Hospital, serving as Chief of Staff, Chairman of the Department of Ob/Gyn and Chairman of the Department & Risk Management Committed in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Participating in WAMI medical student education program, he served as the director of the clinical rotation in obstetrics and gynecology for more a quarter of a century. He is a Clinical Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University Washington Medical School. He is an active member of professional organizations: American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Pacific Coast Obstetrics and Gynecology Society. He is board certified American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and has served as an examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Having finished obstetrical practice at age 60, he now specializes in assessing gynecological problems and finding the best solutions for the individual patient. He is particularly interested in infertility, pelvic pain and abnormal uterine bleeding.
He has published peer-reviewed papers on cesarean sections and WWAMI medical student educational program.
Dr. Hanson is married and the father two grown children; his leisure activities range from hiking, kayaking, backcountry skiing, to reading, cooking and gardening.
