Frequent Q and A

At Anchorage Women's Clinic, we know you may have important questions for us.  Here are some freqently asked questions and their answers.

Which hospitals do your providers use?
We want you to be comfortable and that is why we offer various options.  Most of our providers have privileges at both Providence Hospital and Alaska Regional Hospital.  We also use the Alaska Surgery Center for outpatient procedures.  Please note some insurance companies require that you use their preferred hospital to ensure full benefit payment.  Take a moment to find out if your insurance company has preference.

Does you office bill my insurance?
Yes, we will take care of your claims submission.  For more information Click Here or go to our Insurance link at the top of the page.

What are the clinic's office hours?
Anchorage Women's Clinic keeps office hours Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm and do not close for lunch.  For a schedule of Holiday closures please click here.

If you feel that you need medical assistance, please call 911 or go to the hospital or to an urgent care facility.  If you call us after hours, please leave a message so we can get back with you the following business day.

Do any of you staff members speak a foreign language?
Our clinic is aware of Anchorage's diversity.  We strive to hire staff members who speak foreign languages.  Currently on staff we have employees who speak Spanish, Korean, French, Samoan and Nepali.  We will provide a translator if necessary.  Please provide us with advance notice so we may arrange this for you.

What happens when my provider goes out of town?
AWC currently has 10 providers.  Most of them rotate so they are able to care for each other's patients.  To ensure we provide the best possibe patient care, we also maintain an in-house call group.

Does the office send out reminders for routine appointments?
Yes.  All of our providers are committed to making sure that you remain healthy.  You will be mailed a reminder card for necessary routine appointments.  We also use an automated calling system to remind you of any scheduled appointment.

How long might I wait before being seen by my provider?
You are our top priority.  Our front desk staff is trained to ensure that you are not waiting for long periods of time.  If for some reason you feel you have been waiting too long, please feel free to ask the front desk staff for assistance.

Our physicians do take emergency room call.  If you are concerned about possible delays, please feel free to request a day that your provider is not on call.
